Dear Mr. Rosenberg:
Because I believe in the unity of Israel and because I believe that unity and membership in the House of Israel carry with them peculiar obligations to promote the well-being of every member of that household to the extent of one’s ability, I believe in the Allied Jewish Campaign and hope for its success.
Because American Jews have on the whole been favored in high degree by the fortunate conditions under which they live, I believe they have a peculiar responsibility to do whatever lies in their power to better the lot of their less fortunate brethren who by accident of nativity are compelled to live under circumstances so much inferior.
Because the Jews of Eastern Europe suffer dire distress because of the economic, political and social changes resultant from the World War and because the Jews of Palestine are making a most gallant effort to rebuild that ancient home of our people, I believe they must all have the help which the Jews of America are in a position to give so abundantly.
Ties of kinship and self-respect alike compel heed to the imperative call that comes to us from overseas to bind up the wounds and satisfy the needs of our brethren abroad, to help them in their efforts for rehabilitation and self-support and to enable them once more to resume their proper place in the Household of Israel.
