An illuminated address and a check for 4,000 (about $20,000), the cost of the land for a colony in his honor, were presented today to Menachem Mendel Ussishkin, 73-year-old Zionist leader and world president of the Jewish National Fund, by N. Kirschner, chairman of the South African Zionist Federation.
The colony, to be known as Kfar Ussishkin, is planned as a tribute to the veteran Zionist leader. It was decided upon by the World Zionist Congress in Praha in 1933.
