Thirty members of the British Parliament will attend the meeting to protest against the persecution of the Jews in Germany which will be held at Queen’s Hall here on June 27. The Archbishop of Canterbury will be the principal speaker.
The meeting promises to be the most important demonstration against the persecutions thus far held in England. The speakers will include Lord Reading, Lord Snell, Lord Allen, Lord Dowson, Viscountess Rhondda, Countess Middleton, six mayors of cities, and several members of the clergy.
A monster demonstration parade will be held July 20 from the East End to the West End of London to support the boycott carried on here against German products. Beginning July 1, firms joining the boycott movement will be asked to display a special certificate signifying their support.
It is learned that several members of the British Board of Jewish Deputies contemplate submission of a motion at the meeting of the board Sunday, enlisting the body in the boycott movement. This is expected to lead to a heated discussion in view of the strong divergence in opinion over the use of the boycott weapon.
The United British Fund for German Jews announced today that it had raised 120,000 pounds (approximately $496,800) thus far. The contributions include several from non-Jews who made donations as testimony of their sympathy with the Jewish victims.
