Some 3,000 Jewish immigrants from Rumania, North Africa and elsewhere arrived here this week aboard the Transylvania, Rumanian passenger vessel, and several Israel transports.
The Transylvania, which brought 1,740 passenger, will continue to bring in relatively large numbers of immigrants until the rainy season begins, after which she will not carry passengers on her decks. A group of 720 Polish Jewish immigrants arrived here last night aboard the Israel transport Galilah. The Turkish vessel Buntash brought a contingent of 140 Jews to this city yesterday, including some 60 Jews from Iran — the first Iranian Jews to reach Israel by sea.
