Twenty Jewish refugees arriving from the German-occupied Polish town of Suwalki today declared the Nazis had arrested 3,000 Jews in the town and confiscated all Jewish property.
The Jews were housed in camps while their homes were used for billeting troops, the refugees said, and Jewish women were compelled to do the troops’ laundry work. Thousands were trying to flee to Russian regions.
