Three thousand Jews, including 1,100 children have been found in the already liberated sections of Holland, Max Gottschalk, special European representative of the American Jewish Committee, said today after returning from a visit to Eindhoven where he conferred with the Jewish coordinating commission for liberated Dutch territory.
All Jews are being given relief by the Dutch Government, he said, and the Joint Distribution Committee is providing additional assistance for specific Jewish purposes. The position of the 300 German Jews in the area was very precarious until recently when new regulations were promulgated easing their difficulties, Mr. Gottschalk reported.
He disclosed that during the Passover holidays the coordinating committee organized seders, printed haggadahs and distributed matzoth. The committee informed the American Jewish Committee representative, who is also president of the Hlus-Ica Emigration Association, of the educational and cultural needs of the Dutch Jews. He promised to convey this information to the proper agencies.
