Three thousand Jewish refugees liberated from German a concentration camps have arrived in Sweden within the past few days. Among them are 1,500 Jews from Poland, 400 from Holland, 200 from France, 800 from Hungary and 150 from Germany and Austria.
Many of the arrivals are ill and most have been separated from their families There are parents without children, children looking for their parents, and husbands and wives who have no idea where their spouses are or whether they are still alive. the misery and sufferings they have undergone are indescribable.
The Swedish Government and the Red Cross are assisting the refugees, as are Jewish relief organizations here. After a two-week period in quarantine, they will be transferred from the camp where they are now being held. Further transports of Jews are expected to arrive here soon, and small batches keep trickling in.
