Three thousand Jews are leaving Tripoli for Israel each month, Dr. Maurice L. Perlzweig, U.N. representative of the World Jewish Congress, said today. He added that the government of Tripoli was “greatly facilitating emigration, but severely restricting the opportunity for the emigrants to take their possessions and capital with them.”

Dr. Perlzweig, who is spending three weeks here before going to India and the Far East on a mission to study conditions of Jewish minorities, declared that the majority of Jews have left Libya within a year, while outside Tripoli only a few hundred Jews were left in Benghazi. In Tripoli itself, when the present immigration program is completed, only 2,000 to 3,000 Jews will remain, he added.
