The S.S. General Gordon docked here today with 320 Shanghai Jewish refugees. The United Service for New Americans will place 184 of the DP’s aboard a special train which will take them to Vancouver, Canada. A total of 113 of the passengers will remain in this country under regular quotas. One of the Jews will continue on to Israel.
(In Washington the International Refugee Organization announced that it will reimburse the Joint Distribution Committee for the costs of transporting the refugees to San Francisco. Meanwhile, the S.S. General Taylor landed in New York today from Bremerhaven carrying 90 Jewish DP immigrants sponsored by the U.S.N.A.)
