Thirty-five newly-graduated rabbis received their licenses from the Federation of Jewish Communities of Rumania after they successfully completed a formal examination, it was announced today.
A five-member commission of the Superior Rabbinical Council–headed by Chief Rabbi Moses Rosen, who was aided by a representative of the Ministry of Cults–examined the rabbinical students. The new rabbis, who will soon be named to their respective congregations, were chosen from a total of 60 candidates.
The Federation also announced that, in order to meet the problem arising from the acute shortage of religious teachers in various sections of Rumania, a special training course has been launched which has already attracted some 30 students. The teacher-training course will continue for six months.
