Some 3,500 Jewish children are without means of instruction owing to a teachers’ strike as a protest against the failure of the Jewish Community to pay salaries for the past five months.
The strike, which has been in progress for several days, affects twelve elementary schools, seven secondary schools, one artisans school, three kindergartens and evening schools. One hundred and fifty teachers are on strike.
The Jewish Community is making an effort to meet the emergency situation which has been created and to ensure the continuation of the Jewish school system.
