Plans for the establishment of a $35,000,000 basic chemical manufacturing complex in Israel were reported here today by the Jewish Agency. The plans envisage production of nitrogen fertilizers, phosphates, euphoric and phosphoric acids, soda ash and magnesia compounds.

The project will have two centers. A plant at Haifa will concentrate on the production of nitrogen fertilizers. The other items will be produced in a group of plants located at Sukreir, on the Mediterranean coast, south of Tel Aviv. Israel contains large deposits of the potash and phosphates required in the projected production processes. These will, in turn, supply basic materials for allied industries.
