The first commercial agreement under which Israel imports will be covered in full by exports from the Jewish state was signed here today between Israel and Finland. The agreement, which will be in force for one year, will cover goods valued at $3,600,000.
Under terms of the pact, Israel will ship to Finland citrus concentrates, chemicals, woolens, alarm clocks, knitted wear, silks, rayons and other goods, including Kaiser-Frazer passenger vehicles and Mack trucks. The vehicles, manufactured in the United States, are assembled in Israel plants. Finland will sell to the Jewish state newsprint, paper and cardboard products, cement, timber, telephone poles, railway sleeping cars, prefabricated housing units and fishing vessels.
