Thirty-eight Revisionist workers, including four girls, were arrested today in the Jewish colony Herzlia in the Sharon district for attempting to force Arab laborers out of Jewish-owned orange plantations.
All those arrested were lodged in jail here. The Jewish administration of the colony endeavored to obtain their release on bail, but failing this, the entire colony suspended all activity in protest.
The Arab workers were engaged by the owners of the plantations to pick the orange crop because of the shortage of Jewish labor hands. The Arabs are from Syria, having entered the country to seek employment and to compete with Jewish labor.
