In its determination to supply the Jewish population of New York with milk and dairy products which meet the strict dietary laws of the Passover period, the Borden Company has placed upwards of forty plants under the strict supervision of rabbis and their representatives for the duration of the holidays.
This was pointed out Friday in connection with the disclosures by Borden officials that this annual service of the firm to the Jews had its beginning more than thirty years ago.
A few ideally located plants, surrounded by selected farms, were designated. These farms, with their owners, operators, cows, barns and equipment, were put under the supervision of Jews trained by rabbis. The few engaged in the work have multiplied to large numbers, it was revealed.
