Four thousand more workers are expected to join the 2,500 already on strike here in the ladies’ garment industry. All shops that have hitherto employed union labor and several of the non-union shops are affected.
Rabbi Abba Hillel Silver, who is the spiritual leader of most of the garment manufacturers in Cleveland, yesterday issued a call to end the strike and to decide all matters by arbitration. Benjamin Schlesinger, president of the International Ladies’ Garment Workers’ Union, arrived here today to take personal charge of the strike.
