About 4,000 applicants for migration to Israel, 3,000 of whom registered before October, 1948, are now on file at the Palestine Office in London, it was learned today. The applicants represent all trades and professions. Priority is given to those who can most easily be absorbed in the new state’s economy. A total of 200 have reached Israel so far from Britain.
The first comprehensive conference of Jewish social workers ever arranged in Great Britain will take place Oct. 29 and 30 under the auspices of the Committee for Training Jewish Social Workers The group’s chairman is S.E. Karminski, president of the Jewish Board of Guardians here.
Another meeting will take place Oct. 23. among Reform teachers, social workers and nurses attached to the Chalutziut movement in England, It will be addressed by A. Gradenwitz of the Israel Social Welfare Ministry.
