More than 40,000 New Yorkers will celebrate Chanukah by attending two Chanukah Festivals for Israel, which will be presented by Israel Bonds on December 19 and January 2 at Madison Square Garden, it was announced today. Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller will be the principal speaker on December 10. Admission to the festival will be free to purchasers of Israel bonds.
A total of more than 350 campaign events will be held this month to bring the 1960 Israel bond drive to a successful conclusion, it was announced by Dr. Joseph J. Schwartz, vice-president of the Israel Bond Organization. The end of the current year’s drive will be marked with Chanukah festivals in a number of major cities, and with many dinners and other social events, the most important of which will be a nationwide tribute to former President Harry S. Truman in Chicago on December 10. More than 4,000 persons are expected to participate in the dinner in Mr. Truman’s honor.
