A report stating that 40,000 Jews from the Warsaw ghetto are still hiding in neighboring woods and villages in an effort to escape capture by Germans, was received here today by Emanuel Szerer, Jewish member of the Polish National Council. The report adds that 4,000 Jews are being held in the Tarnow camp in Galicia.
The situation of the Jews in Poland will be discussed at a forthcoming session of the Polish National Council, it was stated here today by members of the Council. Mr. Szerer had demanded that the Council hold a special session devoted exclusively to the position of the Jews in occupied Poland. This demand was rejected and a decision was adopted to discuss the fate of the Jews in Poland as part of a debate on the general situation in the country.
