43 Jewish Refugees, Migrants Arrive in U.S. to Be Reunited with Families

An unusual “cross-sectional” flight of 43 Jewish refugees and migrants arrived this afternoon at Kennedy Airport, it was reported by United Hias Service, the worldwide Jewish migration agency. The charter flight from Rome and Brussels brought new arrivals from Egypt, Morocco, Rumania, Hungary, Poland and even Cuba, all coming to be reunited with their families. The youngest aboard was 3, and the oldest 68. Among the occupations were: watchmaker, chemist, artist, musician, bookkeeper, engineer and welder. The newcomers will be resettled in Cleveland, Newark, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami and Montreal, Canada.
