The 447 Israel-bound Shanghai Jewish refugees who arrived in San Francisco last week and boarded a sealed train for a trip across the country in a 15,000-mile Journey to the Jewish state arrived here today and were transferred by special ferries to Ellis Island pending their embarkation for Genoa, distribution point for Israel.
The refugees will be able to receive visitors at specific hours tomorrow, Tuesday and Wednesday. They will board the Army transport, S.S. General Stewart, on Thursday. The United Service for Few Americans made available to the refugees prayer books and other religious articles which were used for Sabbath services yesterday and Friday night when the train stopped at New Orleans.
