Forty-five leaders in American industry and finance this afternoon received the Weizmann Award of Merit in appreciation of their active sponsorship of the work at the Weizmann Institute of Science at Rehovoth, Israel, during the past decade.
Among those singled out for the honor were Benjamin Abrams, president of Emerson Radio and Phonograph Corporation; Jacob Blaustein, head of American Oil Company; Joseph Levy, president of Crawford Clothes’} Fredric R. Mann, National Container Corporation; Arthur B. Krim, president of United Artists; Harry Scherman, president of the Book-of-the-Month Club; Rudolf G. Sonneborn and others. The awards were conferred at a luncheon ceremony, under the auspices of the American Committee for the Weizmann Institute of Science, at the Waldorf Astoria.
