Colonial Secretary William Ormsby-Gore revealed in the House of Commons today that there are 4,567 armed policemen in Palestine helping the authorities to cope with the Arab disorders.

Of this number, 2,567 comprise the regular police force, the remaining 2,000 being Jewish supernumeraries enrolled specially for the defense of Jewish colonies and paid by the communities themselves.

In the regular force, Arabs predominate, with 1,456 of their number in uniform. There are 746 Britons and 365 Jews in the department.

The police force brings to nearly 20,000 the available man power arrayed against the Arab terrorists in the Holy Land. Approximately 15,000 British troops are now garrisoned there, comprising the greatest concentration of military force in Palestine since the World War.
