OF THE 1,143 CANDIDATES NOMINATED FOR SEATS IN THE SUPREME COUNCIL MORE THAN FIFTY ARE JEWS, EXAMINATION OF THE LISTS REVEALED TODAY. THREE OF THE JEWISH NOMINEES ARE FROM BIRO-BIDJAN, AUTONOMOUS JEWISH TERRITORY IN THE SOVIET FAR EAST.
