Fifty refugees arrived here this morning on the Portuguese liner Serpa Pinto and were immediately transferred by tugboat to the Porto Rican liner Coamo to complete their journey to the Sosua colony in the Dominican Republic. The quick transfer was made possible by cooperation of the Dominican consul, the United States Government and the two steamship lines, according to the Dominican Republic Settlement Association.
Meanwhile, James N. Rosenberg, president of the association, made public a report from David J. Schwei tzer in Sosua reporting that the governor of Puerta Plata province and other officals attended a New Year’s day party at Sosua. The governor provided an orchestra for the fesfivities, which included performance of a play a luncheon and dancing.
