More than 1,000 labor and management representatives of the meat, fur and leather industries attended a dinner here tonight honoring Earl W. Jimerson, noted trade union leader, at which $500, 000 of Israel bonds were purchased. The dinner, held in Hotel Commodore, was sponsored in cooperation with the State of Israel bond drive. A plaque of a silver map of Israel was presented to Mr. Jimerson for his efforts on behalf of Israel’s economy.
Responding to the tributes paid him, Mr, Jimerson said: “I am proud that our union has demonstrated its support for Israel in the past. I am proud that we are continuing that support through purchases of Israel Bonds tonight–because our support of Israel is part and parcel of the active role that American labor is playing in the defense of decency and freedom and democracy–just as the people of Israel are also defending freedom and democracy in their part of the world.”
