Prominent national and local Jewish leaders were among more than 500 persons who attended funeral services here today for Leo Bernstein, the executive vice-president of the Israel Bond Organization, who died suddenly yesterday at the age of 61. Ambassador David Rivlin, the Consul General of Israel, paid tribute to Mr. Bernstein. Speaking on behalf of Israel’s Ambassador to the United States, Simha Dinitz, the Ambassador to the United Nations, Yosef Tekoah, as well as for himself, Rivlin praised the late Jewish leader’s 23 years of service to Israel through the Israel Bond campaign.
Ira Guilden, president of the Israel Bond Organization eulogized Mr. Bernstein. He spoke for Sam Rothberg, general chairman, Louis Boyar, chairman of the board of governors and Julian B. Venezky, national chairman, all of whom presently are in Israel. The services were conducted by Rabbinic Leon Kronish of Miami, chairman of the Rabbinic Cabinet of the Israel Bond Organization and Rabbi Balfour Brickner, of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations.
