More than 500 women attended the annual Spring luncheon and fashion show of the women’s auxiliary of the Jewish Consumptive Relief Society held yesterday in the grand ballroom of the Hotel Astor.
Rabbi David de Sola Pool, of the Spanish and Portuguese Synagogue, in an address at the luncheon asserted that Jews must interest themselves in charities where religion is involved, particularly “such philanthropic undertakings as demand positive Jewish care and as would involve de-Judaizing were we to fail in our duty.”
Other speakers were Mrs. L. H. Garland and Mrs. Mark Harris, president of the group. The fashion show was presented by Voue Soeurs, and artists offering entertainment were Lina Gordoni and Gertrude Schulman.
