Premier Menachem Begin was greeted with cheers and a standing ovation today in an appearance before more than 500 American and Canadian leaders of the Israel Bond Organization at a luncheon at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel here.
Reviewing Israel’s achievements in the last 30 years, Begin repeated that Israel will never accept Arab demands for its return to its 1967 borders or the establishment of a Palestinian state. He said that Israel will never endanger “even one family” in its arrangements for a settlement with the Arabs. Begin also repeated his call for the Jewish people to stand united behind Israel to assure its survival “for ever and ever.”
When Begin’s visit to the U.S. was announced, the Bond Organization set a goal of $20 million in Bond sales. To date, $16 million in Israel Bonds have been purchased.
