More than 250 Jewish engineers have been graduated during the war from the engineering college of the Hebrew Institute of Technology in Haifa, it was reported here by S. Kaplansky, president of the Institute. In addition, 240 students were graduated from the Technical High School of the Institute. All the graduates are now engaged in government work and wartime industries, or in building roads and fortifications for the armed forces.

The chemical laboratories of the Institute, Mr. Kaplansky reported, are developing and producing substitutes for materials not obtainable at present, and are adapting new chemical processes to the requirements and possibilities of the Middle East. The Workahops of the Institute are doing welding and repair work for the mechanized units of the army and are also Making and repairing precision tools for the Royal Air Force. Mr. Kaplansky appealed to Jews in America to give more adequate financial support to the Institute through the American Society for the Advancement of the Institute.
