Arrangements are being completed here for 500 Jewish students from Europe to enter universities in the United States, on temporary student visas, it was announced today.
The students will be carefully selected from among thousands of young men and women who have no opportunity at present to continue their educations. The majority of them will be recruited from France, Belgium, Holland and Czechoslovakia, with some coming from the displaced persons camps in Germany.
In the United States, the students will be cared for by the Hiller Foundation of B’nai B’rith, which will plan their studies and distribute them among various colleges, after consultation with university authorities.
Upon completion of their studies, the students will either return to Europe, or apply for entry into Palestine, where the majority of them desire to settle eventually.
