More than 500 women attended yesterday’s session of the fourth biennial convention of the New York State Federation of Temple Sisterhoods at Temple Rodeph Sholem, 7 West Eighty-third street. Mrs. Albert J. May, president of the organization, directed the proceedings.
During the afternoon at a symposium on the convention theme, “What Constitutes a Modern Jewish Life?” Rabbi Solomon Fineberg of Mount Vernon and Rabbi William F. Rosenblum of Temple Israel presented the educational and social aspects of the topic. Music was provided by the choral group of Temple Ahavath Sholem Sisterhood of Brooklyn.
Mrs. William Dick Sporborg and Rabbi Jonah B. Wise were the guest speakers at a dinner last night, following which the Rodeph Sholem League presented a peace play, “Mother Earth and Her Children. Among the players were: Carolyn Deutsch, Monroe Wexler, Sylvia Lazarus, Beatrice Goldstein, Melvin Cohn and Charles Yaffe. The choral group of the Sisterhood of Temple Beth-El of Great Neck, L. I., furnished the music for the evening. A luncheon tomorrow will conclude the convention.
