More than 5,000 youths from the United States and Canada attended 28 American Zionist youth movement camps this year, representing nearly a 25 per cent increase over last year’s total, it was reported here today by Theodore Comet, director of the American Zionist Youth Foundation.
Mr. Comet attributed the growth to the increasing desire of parents in having their children participate in a work and educational program which is more than a “recreational fun experience.” He noted that a number of the Zionist youth movement camps pattern some of their activities after an Israeli kibbutz.
The camps are organized and managed by the Zionist youth movements, members of the American Zionist Youth Council. The latter is sponsored by the American Zionist Youth Foundation.
