More than 50,000 Jews in England, about one-sixth of the entire Jewish population, are now serving with the armed forces, it was disclosed here today at a press conference arranged by the Zionist Federation in connection with its 42nd annual conference which will take place this week-end in London.
At the same time it was reported here that Jewish girls in England have been organized into a special unit as part of the “land army” doing agricultural work. The unit was praised today by Government agricultural experts as were the Hachsharah groups which are trained on farms in England for agricultural work in Palestine.
