$50,000 for Relief of German Jews Raised at Concert

Five thousand persons came, to the support of needy German Jews when they crowded the County Centre here tonight to hear a musical program staged by the Joint Distribution Committee. About $50,000 was realized from the affair.

Heading the Executive Committee were Mrs. Eugene Meyer, Felix M. Warburg, honorary chairman and Mrs. Arthur Lehman, chairman.

The performers, who included Mischa Elman, violinist; Mme. Hulda Lashanska, soprano and Ossip Gabrilowitsch, pianist, gave their services gratis.

Rabbi Jonah B. Wise, co-chairman of the German Relief Fund Committee, described the concert as “a demonstration of the feeling of Westchester toward the Hitler regime in Germany. Governor Herbert H. Lehman in a program message said that the German situation is a “challenge to civilization.”

Mr. Warburg expressed gratitude
