The $500,000 mark is expected to be reached within a few days in the $750,000 campaign of the Associated Philanthropies here, after nine days of intensive effort on the part of a thousand men and women volunteer workers. Never in the history of philanthropic work in the city has the response to a plea for aid for the poor and needy been so eager and generous.

The drive was given considerable impetus here with the stirring address made by Rabbi Abba Hillel Silver of Cleveland, Lessing Rosenwald of Philadelphia, and the Hon. A. C. Ratshesky, United States Minister to Czechoslovakia, who is here on a short stay.
