The 50th anniversary of the death of Sholem Aleichem was commemorated here last night at a Yiddish symposium organized by the World Jewish Congress and the Society of Jewish Journalists and Writers.
The late Sholem Aleichem’s association with Zionism was detailed in one of the principal papers, read at the meeting by Josef Fraenkel. Excerpts from Sholem Aleichem’s works were read by Helena Kaut, a member of the repertory group of the Yiddish Folk Theater in Warsaw.
