Fifty-one American composers under 30 years of age have submitted original, unpublished orchestral compositions in the 1951 George Gershvin Memorial Contest, sponsored by the Victory Lodge of B’nai B’rith, it was announced here today. The winning composition, for which a $1,000 prize will be awarded, will be played by the New York Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra at one of its regular concerts.
