Quotas totaling $5,499,000 were yesterday announced for eighty-six trade and professional groups of New York, at a luncheon meeting in the Hotel Biltmore of the Board of Directors of the Business Men’s Council of the Federation for the Support of Jewish Philanthropic Societies, to discuss plans for the 1930 campaign of the federation. The object of this year’s drive will be to wipe out a deficit of $2,221,000, which sum is necessary for fulfillment of the federation’s obligations to its ninety-one affiliated social agencies until the end of the current year.

In order to attain their goals, the industrial and professional groups must raise this deficit, it was stated by Samuel D. Leidesdorf, chairman of the council. The remainder has already been credited to them in the form of annual recurrent subscriptions and donations already secured. According to Mr. Leidesdorf, the work of the campaign this year will be in the hands of a larger volunteer army than ever before in the local charities’ history.
