A total of fifty-six big guns have been mounted in and around this most important Palestine port as a defense against possible attacks, it was ascertained by the Jewish Telegraphic Agency today.
The guns, of varying bore, are strategically distributed as follows:
Six are mounted near the railway workshops. Four are at Shemen, six at Bath-Galim, four at the municipal baths. Around Carmel, seven are mounted. Four are in the Bahaian quarter of the city. Eight are located in colonies bordering Haifa and Acre. Twelve are mounted in the El Nakura Harbor which is near the Syrian frontier. Five guns have been posted at the various lighthouses in the Haifa harbor, to be used principally for signalling purposes.
