More than 1,000 persons participated here yesterday in ceremonies marking the 58th anniversary of the death of Dr. Theodor Herzl, founder of political Zionism. The observances opened at sundown at Mount Herzl, where a children’s choir chanted melodies, laid bunches of crimson flowers on Herzl’s grave, and presented readings of Herzl’s writings.
Included among the guard of honor were Israel Bar-Yehuda, Minister of Transport; Yosef Burg, Minister of Social Welfare; Zorach Warhaftig, Minister for Religious Affairs; Knesset Speaker Kaddish Luz; Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Nissim; Supreme Court Justices, members of the Jewish Agency executive, and Jerusalem Mayor Mordechai Ish-Shalom.
