Six Jewish workers, two of them women, were killed today and eight others were wounded when a truck in which they were returning from work in an orange grove near Ramat Hakovesh hit a land mine.

The terrific explosion sent the truck and its occupants hurtling thirty feet through the air. The blast was heard for miles. Instantly killed were Leah Rosman, 23, an immigrant from Poland; Hillel Shehori, Eliahu Schlesinger, Yehuda Cohen and Ephraim Presier. Batya Kastan, 27-year-old woman, from Poland, died in a hospital shortly afterward. Ludwig Levenstein, 25, was seriously injured.

Ramat Hakovesh, new Jewish colony on the coastal plain between Haifa and Tel Aviv, was the scene of an Arab attack on July 22 in which four Jews were wounded.

A 72-year-old Jew, Samuel Abraham Banano, was stabbed and slightly wounded today by an Arab near the Mosque of Omar in the Old City, where he has lived for 60 years. Despite numerous warnings, Banano had refused to leave his home in the Arab section of Jerusalem, declaring he wanted to die where he had lived for most of his life.

The Jerusalem military court sentenced to death an Arab, Mohammed Ali Salach, who was caught on July 20 while carrying a bomb in the heart of all-Jewish Tel Aviv. The same court tomorrow will try a Jew, Joseph Marzuk, who is accused by two Arabs of bombing an Arab bus on Jaffa Road July 4, resulting in death of five Arabs.
