Sixty persons were injured, five seriously, when about 50 youths belonging to the Hungarian Nazi formation known as “Arrow Cross” attacked a group of Jewish skiers on Mount Swabes, near the capital, today.
According to a preliminary police investigation, the attack was entirely without provocation. The Nazi group proceeded to Mount Swabes, armed with sticks and canes and attacked the skiers on a prearranged signal, shouting anti-Semitic slogans. The skiers fled from the sudden attack but then grouped together and defended themselves as best they could with their skis and poles. Budapest police were informed by telephone, but when they arrived they could find only 12 of the Nazi aggressors, who were taken into custody. Ambulances were also rushed to the scene to take away the wounded.
