Sixty new Jewish immigrants left here today for Palestine. All of those who went are in the so-called middle class category or else relatives of people already in Palestine. Poland’s quota of labor certificates under the labor category for the current six months period was exhausted on June 23 when 120 immigrants, including fifty chalutzim (pioneers) who go under the labor schedule, left for Palestine.
In May the Zionist Central Committee of Poland called a conference of middle class Jews who aspire to settle in Palestine. The conference selected the first fifty families to establish a new colony in Palestine. A large scale colonization campaign by middle class Jews is expected to result from this conference.
Last week 150 American Jews, many of them middle class settlers, reached Palestine, bringing with them $1,500,000 for investment.
