A 60-year-old Soviet Jew was singled out as the leader of an alleged narcotics ring peddling drugs in the Siberian city of Omsk, according to a report from Moscow today, citing an article in the daily newspaper Sovetskaya Rossiya of Moscow.
The newspaper reported yesterday that the leader of the ring, selling marijuana, was a 60-year-old barber named Moisei Shneiderovich. Arrested with him were his wife and his son, Lev. Another member of the presumed ring was identified in the report as a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses, a minority group subjected to Soviet persecutions similar to those oppressing Jewish religion and culture.
