A total of 65,487 Jews immigrated to Palestine between 1922 and 1929 from the United States, British Dominions, Russia, Poland, Roumania and Austria so far as available figures show, said Dr. Drummond Shiels, under-secretary for the Colonies, in a written reply to a request from Howard Bury who asked for the number of British and American Jews who emigrated to Palestine since 1920 as compared with those from Eastern Europe.
Dr. Shiels’ statistics show that from 1922 to 1929, 2,217 Jews entered Palestine from the United States, 974 from British Dominions, 16,796 from Russia, 38,850 from Poland, 5,555 from Roumania and 1,095 from Austria.
