The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee has allotted about $686,000 for relief work in connection with German Jewish relief, according to an announcement made by Rabbi Jonah B. Wise, national chairman of the German Relief Fund.

Of the sum, approximately $400,000 was used for work within Germany since April, and $230,000 for refugee and emigration work outside Germany for reconstruction activities. The latter fund will last until March 1.

The money was used to supplement the money raised in Germany by the Central Committee of German Jews for Relief and Reconstruction, and allied organizations including the Hilfsverein der Deutschen Juden, the Palestina Amt, the Central Bureau of Jewish Loan Societies, the Central Bureau for Economic Aid, the League of Jewish Women and a Committee for Migrants.

The Central Committee has been engaged in establishing Jewish schools in Germany, meeting greatly reduced budgets of Jewish institutions, including hospitals and facilitating emigration.

Contributions to the German Relief Fund now total $1,250,623, of which $1,021,704 has been paid in The reserve left to meet demands made by the work of the League of Nations Refugee Commission and by new disasters expected for the refugee Jews, is considered inadequate, Rabbi Wise pointed out.
