Seven Greek taxi drivers were sentenced today to four days imprisonment each for participating in the anti-Jewish street attacks which took place in Salonica several days ago.
Following Jewish representation, a strong police force has been assigned to the Jewish quarters in order to prevent a recurrence of anti-Jewish incidents.
General Kondylis, Vice Premier and Minister of War, who became a national hero when he crushed the Venizelist uprising in March, addressing a large mass meeting here, said that he had always had warm sympathies for the Jews.
“The Jews can always rely on me,” he said. “As long as I am in the government they need have no fear for anything.”
