Seventy Arabs and only four Jews are employed on the excavating work for the railway shops at Haifa. This number of Arabs does not include the 50 road workers whom the railway company employs. The contractors for the construction of the railway shops are Guth & Gurewith, a Jewish firm of Jerusalem. When they were awarded the contract the Arab press charged that favoritism was involved. The General Federation of Jewish Labor has repeatedly protested against the labor numerus clausus.
