Seventy Arabs implicated in the bloody two-day pogrom in the Jewish quarter last week were today sentenced to from two to three years in Jail. Approximately 150 Arab rioters are under arrest awaiting trial for participation in the outbreaks. Twenty-three Jews were murdered in the attack, including a number of women and children. Unofficial estimates of the dead range from sixty to 100. Many of the victims were barbarously mutilated by the Arabs
The city is quiet. The ruined Jewish quarter still presents a scene of desolation. Heavy detachments of troops are still quartered here, while authorities are on the alert, fearing a possible renewal of the riots.
